Lynn was sexually and physically abused as a child. As a teenager, she began using drugs and alcohol to block the pain and trauma she had experienced in her young life.
She became involved in an abusive relationship, sadly repeating the cycle of violence and abuse, as often occurs when people have not had the care and treatment needed to build their own confidence and self-esteem.
By age 24, Lynn was the mother of two young daughters, struggling to break her alcohol addiction and the relationship with the children's abusive father. Lynn was determined to give her daughters a better life, and to be a good role model for them.
Lynn turned to Bridges for help with her alcohol addiction, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. It is very common for people to develop such co-occurring problems. Bridges worked with the entire family to provide the support and services that helped them overcome multiple challenges.
Lynn has been in recovery for three years now. She has built a positive relationship with her grandmother, and with her encouragement and assistance with the children, she is working and raising her daughters in a healthy and loving home.
Their future looks promising and with continued work and support, Lynn will achieve her goals for herself and her family.
