Legislative Breakfast Recap

On March 27th, Bridges hosted a Legislative Breakfast to ask legislators to advocate for greater funding for mental health agencies, highlight pertinent bills that can help support our communities, raise awareness about the unique challenges nonprofits face, and educate legislators on the value of our mission.

Clients and family members shared their stories on the impact Bridges has had on their lives. Staff from our child and adult outpatient programming shared what they are currently witnessing from a clinical standpoint – including both successes and challenges. The discussion touched on the lack of funding for nonprofits, the clinician workforce shortage, barriers to delivering accessible, responsive, and supportive treatment to those we serve, and the escalating acuity levels in the cases we see coming through our door, especially among children and young adults.

We are grateful to Representatives Ferraro, Gresko, Heffernan, Kennedy, and Smith, Mayor Giannattasio, and Ms. Graham from Senator Blumenthal’s office who took time out of their busy schedules to learn how their efforts can impact and save lives. If you are interested in advocating for increased funding for nonprofits, we invite you to please email your legislator.
